This is an understated yet enigmatic painting, the yellow fields bringing colour and lightness to the atmospheric scene. A few minor chips to the frame but very good condition otherwise. 
 
Ernest Burnett Hood was born in Edinburgh and studied and taught at Glasgow School of Art, becoming a keen and lifelong member of the Glasgow Art Club. He painted in oil and watercolour and his oeuvre is varied, encompassing industrial scenes, landscapes, still lifes, city streets and the occasional portrait.
