A mahogany tea table, circa 1815, by William Trotter of Edinburgh (1772 - 1833).
A classic Trotter design, this has a rectangular fold over top with a beaded edge, standing on a quadriform base with carved rosettes.
A few minor scratches to the top and one of the legs but these do not detract from the overall look. Overall the table is in good condition.
William Trotter, based in Edinburgh, was the most celebrated cabinet maker of his generation with a distinctive and recognisable style. His commissions include Paxton House in Berwickshire, The Royal Museum, Edinburgh and The Signet Library. He was Lord Provost of Edinburgh from 1825 - 26.
